Today I visited the prisonWhere men were sent to payFor their crimes against society,Many were there to stay.
I came across an inmateWho said, “I’ve been set free.”Though I occupy my cell each nightNo bondage lies in me.”
I accept Christ the Savior,That day he turned me loose,Now I’m free from filthy habits,Of lust and drug abuse.
I was bound by chains of bitterness,Incarcerated with pride. But freedom bells started ringingWhen God’s spirit came inside.
Now many people wonderWhat causes my faith to stand. It’s freedom that can never be takenBy authority given to man.
