FREEDOM

Today I visited the prison
Where men were sent to pay
For their crimes against society,
Many were there to stay.

I came across an inmate
Who said, “I’ve been set free.”
Though I occupy my cell each night
No bondage lies in me.”

I accept Christ the Savior,
That day he turned me loose,
Now I’m free from filthy habits,
Of lust and drug abuse.

I was bound by chains of bitterness,
Incarcerated with pride.
But freedom bells started ringing
When God’s spirit came inside.

Now many people wonder
What causes my faith to stand.
It’s freedom that can never be taken
By authority given to man.
